Nau Nihal Singh
haveli
The haveli is
situated inside the Walled City of Lahore, and is situated close to the Mori
Gate in the southern portion of the walled city. The haveli is likewise close
to the Bhatti Gate and Lohari Gate.
The haveli was worked
around 1830 or 1840 for Nau Nihal Singh, by his granddad and originator of the
Sikh Empire, Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The chateau was planned to be an individual
habitation for Nau Nihal Singh. The haveli has been utilized, since the British
provincial period, to house the Victoria Girls' High School.
The structure has
four stories, and a storm cellar level. The fourth level is made of a little
room known as Rang Mahal ("Color royal residence"), or on the other
hand as Sheesh Mahal ("Mirror castle"), with enormous screens that
structure a space wherein to get breezes. The rest of the floors were worked
with high roofs, to misrepresent the tallness of the structure so as to give
the presence of a bastion, instead of a private home.
